About Delphi Training
& Consulting

The Delphi Centre, now Delphi Training and Consulting, was founded in 1985 by Susan Henry, (B.App.Sc. Speech Path.), Dip.C.H.  Naomi Halpern, CQSW, Grad Cert (Human Rights) joined the practice in 1987.

Over 25 years they provided therapy for adult sequelae of childhood relational trauma and abuse, developing expertise in support for relational disruptions, self-harming behaviours, substance abuse, suicidal ideation, anxiety, depression and dissociative disorders.

In the early 90’s, Delphi Training and Consulting played a pioneering role in the emerging Australian trauma and dissociative disorders field through providing professional development training with national and international experts.

Susan left the practice in 2012 to focus on banking and financial industry abuse. Naomi broadened her specialist clinical consultation and training to include organisational trauma informed training for law firms, the judiciary, United Nations, government agencies and not-for-profit organisations.

What Our Clients Say About Delphi

The Snow White Metaphor workshop was inspiring and highly informative. A very helpful framework for complex case conceptualisation with supportive therapeutic interventions relevant to a combined group of child sexual assault counsellors. Naomi is a warm, engaging and highly skilled clinician who tailored her program wonderfully to suit our training needs.

Child Protection Unit, Sydney Children’s Hospital Network

Naomi has been a huge help as we've established the Whistleblower Project at the Human Rights Law Centre, Australia's first specialist legal service for whistleblowers. Naomi has helped us ensure our legal practice is trauma-informed, we are empowering our clients and supporting our staff. We are very grateful for her support.

Kieran Pender, Associate Legal Director, Human Rights Law Centre

I wanted to say a big thank you for the presentation. You are such a warm and engaging speaker that it was a delight to listen to. The feedback from the staff has been very positive, with the staff finding the information so useful. One staff member has suggested a “Part 2” from you at some stage.

ACT Women's Health Service, Canberra, ACT

Naomi has delivered several seminars to our team and clients, which are packed with thought provoking and up-to-date information and practical tips on trauma informed practice and how to identify and manage vicarious trauma when it arises. I highly recommend her training sessions – Naomi is a pleasure to work with.

Hannah Sowdon, Partner, Thomson Geer

Naomi is truly one of the best speakers I have come across. She makes the topic very understandable and relatable. The pace, content, slides and handouts have been extremely beneficial. The speaker’s positive aura, real life experiences shared and command on the topic is truly commendable.

On behalf of UNESCO’s OHS team, we extend our heartfelt thanks for the invaluable time and expertise you dedicated to developing and delivering the “Gatekeeper Training for Suicide Prevention”. Your ability to connect with our team on such a challenging topic is an amazing skill that shines through in your delivery.

Dr Julien Dentz, Chief Medical Officer & Dr Dawn Straiton Mullin DP, Project Manager, Mental Health Strategy, UNESCO HQ, Paris

This has been an inspirational and full training opportunity. Not only has the content been excellent, but Naomi's presentation has also been excellent. I really enjoyed your 'humanity' Naomi and the way you used examples from your practice, both successful and less successful ones! You obviously have strongly well developed and integrated Parts, that have overcome the past, and allow you to shine in the present! So many thanks.

Social Worker, New Zealand

Naomi provided extensive training and support to many of our employees over a 10-year period. Employees reported feeling empowered and more confident to deal appropriately with the emotional challenges they are presented with as part of their roles. We are grateful for Naomi’s collaborative working style and professional approach.

This complex material was very well organised and well presented with helpful, relevant and striking case examples e.g. the art work client's story. The candid comments from Naomi regarding some of her personal experiences as a therapist were effective and added warmth and a 'real life' context to the core content. These brief, humorous, tangible disclosures had an opening up, relaxing, humanising effect which softened the harder cerebral slog of technical material. The exercises were useful and essential in terms of knowing what is going on in yourself as a therapist.

Psychologist

Our staff have learnt so much from the sessions Naomi presented. Her relaxed, interactive and extremely insightful sessions taught us how to approach our legal work in a sensitive and trauma-informed way. Naomi cleverly drew from her extensive experience to share some very extremely relevant examples to deepen our understanding.
