Dr Laurie-Anne Pearlman

Laurie Anne Pearlman, PhD, is a clinical psychologist and independent trauma consultant based in western Massachusetts. She is a Fellow of the Trauma Division of the American Psychological Association (APA) and of the Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues. She co-founded and served as first president of the Trauma Research, Education, and Training Institute. She consulted to the Headington Institute in Pasadena, California, for 11 years. She also co-founded, co-directed and served for 20 years as research director of the former Traumatic Stress Institute/Center for Adult & Adolescent Psychotherapy.

Dr. Pearlman has received awards for clinical and scientific contributions from the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies (ISTSS) and the Connecticut Psychological Association; for her work in media and trauma from ISTSS; and for contributions to professional practice from the APA Trauma Division. She has authored or co-authored six books on psychological trauma, including her 2014 book, Treating Traumatic Bereavement. Dr. Pearlman is the 2019 recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award from the APA Trauma Division.
